#1919 RCMP (Rust Converter/ Metal Primer)

DESCRIPTION
SEALMARK #1919 RCMP bonds physically and chemically to metallic surfaces.  It forms a flexible polymer membrane on the surface that contains rust inhibitors and is practically impervious to water vapor.  Sealmark’s #1919 RCMP reacts with the rust to form a black ferric compound that is insoluble in water. The moisture barrier plus the insolubility of the ferric compound prevents any galvanic action and forms a protective base primer coat that will accept any top coat.

USES
SEALMARK #1919 RCMP can be applied to new or rusting ferrous metals as a protective primer to increase surface adhesion and to stop and prevent the formation of rust and form a protective barrier on the surface.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Substrate Preparation Surface must be free of oil, grease, and loose paint and rust.  Remove as much surface rust and paint as possible by shot blast, sanding or wire brushing the surface.

Application – The rust converter can be sprayed, brushed, or rolled on. Shake or stir product before use. Pour enough of the #1919 RCMP into a clean rust free container needed to complete the project. WARNING!!! DO NOT CONTAMINATE THE ORIGINAL CONTAINER OF THE # 1919 RCMP WITH ANY METAL OR RUST PARTICLES!! DO NOT POUR THE UNUSED MATERIAL OF THE APPLICATION PAIL BACK INTO THE ORIGINAL PRODUCT CONTAINER. ANY CONTAMINATION IN THE ORIGINAL PAIL WILL CAUSE A CHEMICAL REACTION AND RENDER THE PRODUCT USELESS!!!  Allow #1919 RCMP to air dry before applying a second coat of #1919 or final finish coat.  A second coat is strongly recommended if the metal product will be exposed to severe weather and wet conditions.  A top coat should be applied as soon as the #1919 RCMP coat has dried.  If this can not be done, the # 1919 RCMP by itself will give six months indoor protection and two months outdoor protection before top coating.  If there is a longer interval between #1919 RCMP coat and top coat then it may be necessary to recoat with #1919 RCMP before top coating.

Clean Up - Use soap and water for clean up.  System materials are water-borne and are non-toxic.  Prior to curing, system materials are water soluble.  Clean up any spills, overspray, or residue of the system materials before they have time to set. Cured or dried system materials are not water soluble and may prove to be difficult to impossible to remove without damage to substrate or other materials upon which they have dried.  Dispose of waste materials and empty containers into an approved waste disposal facility.  Never dump materials into storm or sanitary sewers, nor into bodies of water.

STORAGE
SEALMARK #1919 RCMP must be stored in a continuous environmental temperature of at least 45°F or higher. Storing in temperatures closer to normal room temperature 70°F will result in easier application.  KEEP FROM FREEZING. Always store in tightly sealed container and away from direct sunlight. Shelf life of Sealmark # 1919 RCMP is  6 months from manufactured date
