#2000A - ADHESIVE PRIMER / SEALER

DESCRIPTION
SEALMARK #2000A -  (ADHESIVE PRIMER / SEALER) is a water based acrylic resin blend that penetrates and seals many types of wood, foam and masonry substrates.  When applied prior to the application of the # 9040 wall mesh, it provides and supports improved adhesion while also creating a water vapor barrier and is the first step in creating a waterproof substrate and to enhance and create the bond needed to support the high film build of the #2001 - Base Coat and #2012 Series- Finish / Texture Coats.

USES
SEALMARK #2000A -  (ADHESIVE PRIMER / SEALER) is used to create a clean surface and prepare the approved substrate for the successful application of the # 9040 wall mesh and completion of the SEALMARK TEFS system.  SEALMARK #2000A - (ADHESIVE PRIMER / SEALER) is the first step of the waterproofing and vapor barrier developing process of the TEFS system.

COVERAGE
The coverage rates for the SEALMARK #2000A -  (ADHESIVE PRIMER / SEALER) will very slightly depending upon the substrate it is being applied to. Flat, smooth, level substrates such as Plywood, Foam, etc. will sustain an average coverage rate of 200 sq. ft. per gallon at 7 mil wet film thickness  (* When applied to Brick, Block, OSB, porous or similar rough textured substrates, coverage rates will decrease slightly to approximately 165 sq. ft. per gallon.)
NOTE!  On porous unsealed substrates you will have to apply a second coat of adhesive primer that will remain on the surface to bond that #9000 wall mesh.  Ther coverage rate of the second coat will be approximately 250 square feet per gallon.

PROPERTIES
Drying Time - After mixing, the drying time of SEALMARK #2000A - (ADHESIVE PRIMER / SEALER) is dependent upon the ambient air temperature and relative humidity.  Under normal conditions (70°f / 55% R.H) the time elapsed for acceptable curing is a minimum of 20 min. The 2000A will remain tacky and usable for approximately 90 min. Full cure occurs in 36 hours.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
FOR COMPLETE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS SEE THE (TEFS WALL SYSTEM APPLICATION GUIDE.)
Job Conditions -  Air and surface temperature for application of SEALMARK #2000A - (ADHESIVE PRIMER / SEALER) must be at least 39°(degrees (F)), and must remain so for a period of at least 24 hrs.
Protection - Temporary protection shall be provided at all times for specified duration until (#2000A) has achieved a completely cured state to protect from all weather, natures elements and other potential damage.
Substrate Preparation - Surfaces must be clean, dry, structurally stable and surface temperature should be above 39°(f). Surface areas should be free from grease, oils, and solvents that can possibly interfere with the bond integrity of SEALMARK #2000A - (ADHESIVE PRIMER / SEALER).  When applying system materials to concrete, brick, or concrete block. PH of concrete must not exceed 9.0.  These substrates must age a minimum of 30 days before SEALMARK can be applied. Wash concrete block with a mild muratic acid solution to neutralize the pH.  Thoroughly rinse solution off with clean water. If substrate is a wood material, slightly depress all butt joints and panel edges (you may use a side grinder to achieve this.  Remove any sawdust or other contaminates from the substrate.  Remember that SEALMARK cannot be used over any asphalt materials or any plastic materials such as polyethylene
Mixing Procedure - Proper mixing procedure for SEALMARK #2000A is to stir gently in pail for approximately 15 - 20 seconds.  A drill and standard paint mixing bit are recommended for mixing #2000A.
Application - No special tools or skills are needed for the correct application of SEALMARK #2000A. Using a heavy-duty paint roller / applicator, apply SEALMARK #2000A - in a uniform consistent manner as to completely cover and water proof the approved substrate. Other approved tools for the application of SEALMARK #2000 - include a brush.  DO NOT BACK-ROLL or BRUSH OVER AN AREA ONCE PRIMER HAS BEEN APPLIED.   (This will interrupt the uniformity and coverage of #2000A)   Apply #2000A at a maximum of 210 sq. ft. per gallon or no less than 7 mil.  When Sealmark #2000A is used to prime and seal substrate prior to the use of Sealmark #2003 Restoration Coating.  The coverage rate will be 200 square feet per gallon on smooth substrates.  Coverage rate will decrease over rough or porous substrates.
Clean Up -  Use soap and water for clean up.  System materials are water-borne and are non-toxic.  Prior to curing, system materials are water soluble.  Clean up any spills, over-spray, or residue of the system materials before they have time to set.  Cured or dried system materials are not water soluble and may prove to be difficult to impossible to remove without damage to substrate or other materials upon which they have dried.  Dispose of waste materials and empty containers into an approved waste disposal facility.  Never dump materials into storm or sanitary sewers, nor into bodies of water

STORAGE
SEALMARK #2000A  (ADHESIVE PRIMER / SEALER) must be stored at a continuous temperature of at least 40`(F) or higher.  Storing in temperatures closest to normal room temperature (70`F.) will result in easier application. ALWAYS AVOID FREEZING.  Always store in tightly sealed container and away from direct sunlight. Shelf life of all SEALMARK products is for a period of 12 months after products are manufactured.

CAUTIONS
As with any type of application, take the appropriate steps necessary to ensure that clean up of #2000A is achieved with minimal effort.  This means properly tarp/secure application area as to prevent unintended application as product may prove to be difficult to impossible to remove.  SOME WALL SUBSTRATES MAY HAVE BEEN COATED WITH A CLEAR SILICON WATER REPELLENT THAT WOULD ADVERSELY AFFECT THE ADHESION OF SEALMARK PRODUCTS.  IF APPLICATION OF THE SILICON TREATMENT IS UNKNOWN, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A TEST APPLICATION BE APPLIED TO THE SUBSTRATE AND CHECKED AFTER CURING FOR ADHESION.
